Brooklyn Space Program

I have always admired Physical Science but never engineered anything like the Father/Son team calling themselves the “Brooklyn Space Program“. Watching the video of the making and launch of an iPhone into space was extremely inspiring.

Join me in supporting their creativity and funding the launch of the second mission!

Effective Facebook Marketing

As the second most visited website in the world, the reach of Facebook is undeniable but effectively marketing through it first takes some customization. The same as your website, you must stand out from your competitors.

By default, when visitors access the Fan Page for your business it will take then directly to the “Wall” where they are immediately thrown into the conversation. This is a poor practice as there is a good chance they have not yet been informed properly as to what your message and offerings are. If they have not yet “Liked” your business a good practice is to instead send them to a custom tab which allows you to introduce yourself to them informing them as to what you offer and hopefully engaging them to take part in the conversation or pointing them to the desired call to action. Another obvious customization is increasing the size of your profile image; you are restricted by 200 pixels in width, but you can extend the image down as far as 600 pixels maximizing the visibility of your brand. There are a number of examples of effective Facebook Marketing on E.MP.

Be sure to read Tara Coomans post on Facebook Customization on the Akamai Marketing blog and learn how you can effectively sell Facebook Marketing on E.MP.

Hawaii Business Magazine Interview

Read the recent article by Hawaii Business Magazine‘s article on Location Based Social Networking. Rob was interviewed by By Mariah Mellor of Hawaii Business.

An emerging way for stores, restaurants and other businesses to connect with customers is location-based social-media networks like MyTown, Foursquare, GoWalla and Whrrl.

Rob Bertholf, chief search architect of Chapter Three LLC, a San Francisco consulting firm, says there are more than 100 smartphone applications for location-based social-media networks. These applications let customers leave consumer tips, photos and feedback about their experiences on a company’s profile and with friends on Twitter and Facebook.

“Businesses can actually look at their locations in any of these apps and see who the top visitors are as well as the most recent visitors,” Bertholf says.
